Dear Wildwood K-2nd Grade Parents and Guardians,
We are looking forward to having students on campus next week!
The schedules, COVID-19 testing information, and important links and documents noted below are also available on our Elementary School Distributed Learning webpage at wildwood.org/eledistributedlearning. The site also includes a daily checklist and reminders, wellness check information, and FAQ section. K-2nd Grade Pick-Up and Drop-Off Schedule: Click here to see the updated schedule by class. Please note that Friday pick-up times have been updated. These staggered times will help us adhere to physical distancing guidelines and avoid crossing cohorts. Students may only be picked up at the designated pick-up time for their class. If you need to arrange to pick-up your child at our designated alternate pick-up time of 12 p.m., please contact elementaryfrontdesk@wildwood.org. K-2nd Grade Schedule Survey Required Every Two Weeks: I understand that there was some confusion about the two-week blocks for onsite Distributed Learning. In order to plan for onsite learning and to support our teachers, we are asking that you inform us of your decision to send your student(s) to campus every two weeks. Teachers are making plans based on the number of children in attendance onsite and offsite, and your timely survey response is vital to this planning. You may not split onsite/offsite between weeks—students will either be offsite or onsite for the entirety of each two-week period. We will send a new survey every two weeks, so you will have the opportunity to reevaluate your choice for the next two-week period.
Though schedules are always subject to change based on L.A. County case rates, we hope this system will allow for you to feel more comfortable making decisions for your family in addition to supporting continuity in class work.
Please Note: If you did not complete the survey, your student will remain offsite the first two weeks of February (Feb. 1-12). The earliest your student will be able to visit campus will be Monday, Feb. 15. K-2nd Grade COVID-19 Testing: As a reminder, all children returning onsite for Distributed Learning will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test result within the week before our return.
If you chose to get testing done on your own for the Feb. 1 onsite start day, we ask that you provide documentation of the negative test result and submit it to Adriana Gonzalez at agonzalez@wildwood.org by tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 29. If we do not receive notice of a negative result, your child will not be allowed to come to campus and will remain offsite for Feb. 1-12. COVID-19 Testing for Students During the School Day: As we remain onsite, future testing for K-2nd grade will occur weekly and will take place during the school day while children are on campus. The cheek swab testing will be done by PMH Laboratory. If you choose not to have your child tested on campus, you will need to submit documentation of a negative test by the Friday before each week.
We will notify you ahead of time when the COVID-19 testing will occur on campus. Before each test, you must submit the PMH Laboratory Student Authorization Form and PMH Test Request Form (pages 1 and 3 of the testing forms on the Elementary School Distributed Learning webpage), found here, each time your child is tested on campus. If your child has already had the COVID-19 test on campus, you will not need to bring copies of insurance cards or show proof of insurance again. Camera Use for Students at Home: To create a more inclusive environment for our students who will be joining from home, we will be using classroom cameras to let them experience some of the classroom setting along with their peers. This will also allow specialist teachers who will be Zooming into classrooms to be able to see and engage with all onsite students as well. We will not be recording the Zoom sessions. If you do not want your child to be seen on the Zoom call, please notify your classroom teacher and Assistant Director of Elementary School Sarah Simon. As always, please feel free to reach out to our pandemic coordinators if you have any questions: Christina Kyong, Melanie Benefiel, and Billy DuMone.
We look forward to welcoming your children to campus.
Stay healthy,
Katie Rios Director of Elementary School Wildwood School |
