Dear K-4th Grade Parents and Guardians,
We are so excited to have a campus full of happy students starting next Monday, March 1! RESPONSE REQUIRED by Friday, Feb. 26: New Elementary Onsite Survey for March 2021 Please complete this survey and submit a response for each of your K-4th grade students by 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26. This form is required for all families, even if your student was onsite for the recent block.
Survey Covers Onsite Days for March 1-26: The date range for this survey has been extended to cover the entire month of March and now applies to grades K-5 (please note that 5th grade submissions are not due until Wednesday, March 3).
We understand this is a tight turnaround for your survey response, but your timely reply is vital to lesson and spatial planning happening on campus. If we do not receive a form for your student by Friday, Feb. 26, your student will remain offsite for March. You will receive a new survey for April when we return from spring break.
Absences for Onsite Students: We also want to clarify that if an onsite student is absent or home sick, they will not be able to join class via Zoom. They will be noted as absent for that day. Teachers are planning for fixed groups in person and via Zoom and are not able to accommodate mixed schedules. COVID-19 Testing for Offsite Students Transitioning Onsite All students returning onsite will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test result within the week before their return. If your student has been offsite and will be transitioning to onsite, please plan to arrive at the elementary campus for COVID-19 testing tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 25, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. If you choose not to have your student tested on campus, or you miss the above window, you will need to submit documentation of a negative test to Adriana Gonzalez by Sunday, Feb. 28.
Future testing for students will take place during the school day while students are on campus. You will not need to submit results for these tests. UPDATED Drop-Off/Pick-Up Schedules: Starting Monday, March 1 As I mentioned earlier this week, new guidelines shift the focus from cohort sizes to the importance of mask-wearing, and the ability to maintain physical distancing measures. Because of this, students in grades K-4 will be reintroduced into single classes, which LACDPH refers to as "stable groups." We will still need to stagger drop-off and pick-up times and locations to avoid crossing these groups.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Schedule: The updated drop-off and pick-up times for your child's class can be found here. In addition, please familiarize yourself with this updated map to understand the drop-off/pick-up route and procedure. K-1st graders will be dropped off by the gate to Big Yard/basketball court. Students in 2nd-4th grades will be dropped off after the wellness checkpoint at the main entrance gate. Teachers will walk their stable group to class once everyone arrives. If you have students in both groups, you will drop off both at the K-1st grade entrance. Procedures and Reminders Again, it remains critical that everyone in our community continue to abide by the health and safety protocols outlined in our Guide to Returning to Campus, which include mask-wearing, physical distancing, frequent sanitizing, and mandatory COVID-19 testing for students opting to come onsite. During the school day, we have scheduled handwashing/hand sanitizing and bathroom breaks, where classes will be assigned to specific bathrooms. With the new guidelines, our classrooms will be set up with physical barriers where 6-feet separation isn't possible—students will, however, be kept a minimum of 4 feet apart where those barriers are in place. Post-Spring Break Reminder Spring break is from March 29-April 9. All students will remain offsite the week of April 12 in order to build in a 10-day quarantine period. You will receive details at a later time about scheduling COVID-19 testing during that week, for our return back to campus on Monday, April 19. I know this is a lot of information to take in, but it will all be routine soon enough. You can find the above information, including schedules, required forms, important links, and documents on our Elementary School Distributed Learning webpage at wildwood.org/eledistributedlearning. Please bookmark and check this page regularly for updates.
You will also receive an email with reminders about wellness checks, the daily checklist, what to bring later this week. As always, feel free to contact K-5CovidInfo@wildwood.org with any questions.
Warmly,
Katie Rios Director of Elementary School Wildwood School |
