Spring 2015-16 Season Sports Update

Our final sports season has now come to an end and we are wrapping up the 2015-16 school year. We had 153 participants in grades 5-12 this spring. We fielded teams in soccer, boys volleyball, track and field, tennis, beach volleyball, swimming, and baseball. We've enjoyed cheering on our athletes as they competed on the fields, courts, tracks, beaches, and in the pool. What a fun spring it’s been and with the addition of 5th Grade Boys Volleyball, our athletic expansion continues to support our overall program.

In the elementary school we expanded our spring program by adding boys volleyball. In their inaugural year the boys had a great season with wins over Brentwood, WNS, Turning Point, and Echo Horizon. We also had another great season of co-ed soccer. With 29 participants we decided to create two teams. It was fun having alums, Jessi McDonald and Alex Sheftel (who both played varsity soccer at the upper school) join our coaching ranks, keeping our wolf pride in the family.

In the middle school we had a lot of great things happen as well. Our boys volleyball program completed its third year of existence, and both the A and B teams had playoff victories over Turning Point and Willows respectively. This young but vibrant program is becoming very popular and with the addition of the 5th grade team, the future of boys volleyball is very bright. Our tennis team had a great season with team wins over Crossroads, Windward, Archer, and New Roads. The team was comprised of mostly 6th and 7th graders who are all eager to get back on the court next year. In the individual finals, 6th grader Ginger F. made it to the semi-finals and narrowly missed out on making the finals. Finally, our middle school track and field team had a historical year. At league finals the team broke 5 school records and brought home 9 medals. Notable results include Toochi B. winning the 400 and 200 meter races, and placing 2nd in the long jump (breaking the school record in all three), and Adele C. winning the mile race in a time of 5:51.97 (also a school record).

In the upper school, we fielded boys and girls track and field, as well as swim, baseball, girls beach volleyball, and tennis teams. Some notable accomplishments were Gabriel M. from our tennis team qualifying for sectionals. Sophia S. (1600 and 3200), Kamal M. (triple jump), Miana S. (discus), and Niazayre B. (high jump) all advanced to CIF semi-finals in track and field. Our swim team finished the season earning a strong second place in league and bringing home numerous medals at finals. Griffin N. from our baseball team earned Pitcher-Of-The-Year. And our beach volleyball tripled in size (18) as the sport is gaining momentum and popularity.

Overall it has been an amazing spring season for our athletes. With several team and individual accomplishments we are proud of our mighty wolves. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents, teachers, support staff, administrators and coaches for your efforts and support of our student athletes. We want to wish everyone a healthy and happy summer and look forward to even greater things to come in 2016-17.

Go Wolves!!!
