College To Do List for Seniors

  • Reflect on how you learn best and what you are looking for in a college.
  • Visit the College Center on a regular basis.
  • Research colleges on the list that you made with your college counselor.
  • Check college requirements, minimum GPA, and test scores for admittance.
  • Know application deadlines.
  • Meet financial aid deadlines.
  • Attend college presentations at Wildwood.
  • Attend the Senior Retreat.
  • Write your college essays.
  • Complete applications in a timely manner.
  • Keep all materials filed in your college binder.
  • Keep all appointments with your college counselor.
  • Register for and take the appropriate SAT and/or ACT tests and send your test results to the colleges to which you are applying.
  • Save copies of everything. If you apply online, print out a copy.
  • If you are using US Mail to send in your college applications, get a Certificate of Mailing.
  • Give teachers enough time (three weeks is good) to write your letters of recommendation. Also, provide a list of your colleges with due dates and envelopes and stamps for mailing.
  • Send the teachers who wrote your recommendations thank you notes and remember to tell them where you plan to attend college.
  • Check your e-mail for messages from colleges.
  • Celebrate! You’ve worked hard. Look forward to the next chapter of your life.
