College To Do List for Seniors
- Reflect on how you learn best and what you are looking for in a college.
- Visit the College Center on a regular basis.
- Research colleges on the list that you made with your college counselor.
- Check college requirements, minimum GPA, and test scores for admittance.
- Know application deadlines.
- Meet financial aid deadlines.
- Attend college presentations at Wildwood.
- Attend the Senior Retreat.
- Write your college essays.
- Complete applications in a timely manner.
- Keep all materials filed in your college binder.
- Keep all appointments with your college counselor.
- Register for and take the appropriate SAT and/or ACT tests and send your test results to the colleges to which you are applying.
- Save copies of everything. If you apply online, print out a copy.
- If you are using US Mail to send in your college applications, get a Certificate of Mailing.
- Give teachers enough time (three weeks is good) to write your letters of recommendation. Also, provide a list of your colleges with due dates and envelopes and stamps for mailing.
- Send the teachers who wrote your recommendations thank you notes and remember to tell them where you plan to attend college.
- Check your e-mail for messages from colleges.
- Celebrate! You’ve worked hard. Look forward to the next chapter of your life.
