Life Skills
Wildwood’s elementary program places a high value on the personal qualities and abilities known as "Life Skills." A student’s development of these skills is as important as his/her academic development. Life Skills are woven into the daily fabric of the curriculum and inform everything we do at Wildwood.
The personal qualities that Wildwood values and fosters are:
- Integrity—honesty, sincerity, soundness of moral principle
- Common Sense—using good judgment
- Patience—being able to wait calmly
- Curiosity—wanting to learn more
- Sense of Humor—laughing and playing without hurting others
The abilities the school seeks to develop include:
- Responsibility—taking initiative, being accountable
- Flexibility—being able to adapt
- Effort—doing one’s personal best
- Problem-solving—creating solutions for challenging situations
- Organizing—planning, arranging, implementing
- Interpersonal skills—respect, caring for others, cooperating, and making friends
- Tolerance—recognizing and respecting other points of view
