Life Skills

Wildwood’s elementary program places a high value on the personal qualities and abilities known as "Life Skills." A student’s development of these skills is as important as his/her academic development. Life Skills are woven into the daily fabric of the curriculum and inform everything we do at Wildwood.

The personal qualities that Wildwood values and fosters are:

  • Integrity—honesty, sincerity, soundness of moral principle
  • Common Sense—using good judgment
  • Patience—being able to wait calmly
  • Curiosity—wanting to learn more
  • Sense of Humor—laughing and playing without hurting others

The abilities the school seeks to develop include:

  • Responsibility—taking initiative, being accountable
  • Flexibility—being able to adapt
  • Effort—doing one’s personal best
  • Problem-solving—creating solutions for challenging situations
  • Organizing—planning, arranging, implementing
  • Interpersonal skills—respect, caring for others, cooperating, and making friends
  • Tolerance—recognizing and respecting other points of view
