Funding priorities

Like independent schools across the nation, Wildwood depends on fundraising as a critical component of its operating budget. Our fundraising priorities include:

Annual support. The Wildwood Annual Fund helps pay for the essentials our school needs every day to ensure the quality of our program remains outstanding. The Fund helps pay for classroom resources like SmartBoards, lab equipment, and materials for our libraries. It provides professional development and growth opportunities for faculty and staff. And it helps Wildwood achieve a diverse student population that reflects the broader community by providing funds for financial aid. Click here to learn more about Wildwood's Annual Fund.

Endowment. The school's first endowment fund, the Hope E. Boyd Endowment, was established in 2007 to honor our retiring head of school. It was created specifically to build a robust source of funding for financial aid. A strong endowment can give students from across Los Angeles' broad socio-economic spectrum the opportunity to experience and benefit from a Wildwood education. And that's to the benefit of all. As Hope once said, "Cultural literacy cannot be learned from a book; it is an experience that must be accessed through proximity and collaboration." Click here to learn more about the Hope E. Boyd Endowment fund.

Faculty. One of our most important assets is our faculty. Passionate, creative, and highly-trained, our teachers deliver Wildwood's innovative program in way that stirs excitement in students and inspires them as lifelong learners. Attracting and retaining the best educators demands good salaries and benefits - especially in Los Angeles, where the cost of living is high. Fundraising allows Wildwood to offer resources, continuing education, and financial aid for faculty children, which are crucial components in building a strong staff.

Capital projects. In spring 2009, Wildwood's Board of Trustees approved a strategic plan that outlined a set of goals and facilities projects. Three of those projects are now underway: the greening of the elementary campus, reconfiguration of science labs at the middle and upper school, and a new library facility at the middle and upper school. Make a Gift
One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.
