The vibrant community our kids create in the classrooms doesn't end when the bell rings. At Wildwood, parents discover a sense of kinship that often leads to the discovery of life-long friends. Wildwood parents come from all walks of life and a vast array of experiences, but they all share similar values around education, social development, and passion for their children's success.

Wildwood parents are an active bunch. You'll find them singing at  All School Meetings or performing at the middle and upper campus "Night of Artistry." They hand out hot lunches and help out in classrooms. They organize fundraisers-and contribute their dollars. And if a family suddenly faces a serious illness or other devastating event, Wildwood parents are right there with meals, childcare, and other offers of assistance.

A strong community doesn't just happen. Our active parent organization is supported by administrative staff. Volunteer opportunities have been crafted to fit a variety of schedules and interests. And our Web site offers a password-protected section where parents can find detailed calendar information, updates from teachers, and more. Each element contributes to a warm, welcoming environment where families find support and camaraderie.

Wildwood Parent Organization (WWPO)
Every parent is a member of the Wildwood Parent Organization (WWPO), and all members are encouraged to participate in WWPO committees and activities. WWPO builds community spirit, generates revenue through events and programs, and serves as a vital link between parents, administrators, and faculty.

Two co-presidents-one representing the elementary campus, and one representing the middle and upper campus-lead WWPO and provide oversight for the group. They are supported by a trustee liaison and a communication liaison, and work closely with the chairs of each of the WWPO committees.

Administrative support
WWPO's committees work directly with administrative liaisons whose expertise aligns with the committee's tasks and goals. For example, the committee that plans the annual Fundraiser for the Endowment teams up with Director of Institutional Advancement Colleen Pundyk and staff. The Library Committees work with our head librarians at each campus. The Team Sports Committee partners with the athletic directors. These relationships ensure that parent volunteers get the support they need so that their experience as committee members and leaders is positive and fulfilling.

Classroom opportunities
At the elementary campus, each class has two volunteer lead room parents and a community involvement liaison. Room parents coordinate email lists and phone trees and help organize social events, community involvement projects, and celebrations. They rely on fellow parents for support in their work.

The middle and upper schools have advisory parents who perform similar tasks, including taking the lead on setting up annual advisory potlucks for parents, teachers, and students.

Parents can also volunteer to make classroom presentations or serve as chaperones and drivers for field trips.
