Welcome

Welcome to Wildwood School!

Wildwood’s nationally acclaimed, college-preparatory, K-12 program is built on innovative, research-based educational practices. Our graduates benefit from a highly intellectual program that prepares them for selective colleges and universities and gives them the skills they need to be successful adults in the 21st century.

A recently published report Tough Choices or Tough Times issued by the National Center on Education and the Economy proposes that an individual’s success in the 21st century will no longer be solely dependent on subject area knowledge but rather that young people “will have to be comfortable with ideas and abstractions, good at both analysis and synthesis, creative and innovative, self-disciplined and well organized, able to learn very quickly and work well as a member of a team and have the flexibility to adapt quickly to frequent changes...” The commission’s descriptors could have been pulled directly from our school’s mission and philosophy.

Wildwood graduates are intellectually curious, confident, socially responsible, and self-aware. They recognize that to be a positive force in the world, they must be proactive thinkers and doers. As one senior said at this year’s graduation, “Because Wildwood has taught us to ‘think outside the box’, analyze situations, research, think for ourselves, question authority, create our visions, and pursue our dreams, each and everyone of us will leave our individual marks on the world.”

On both campuses, the multidisciplinary nature of our diverse school introduces students to the connections that exist not only between disciplines, but between people. Authentic service to the community is a hallmark of our elementary program, where students are guided as they provide age-appropriate service to others; from a quilt-making project with children at a neighboring public school to gathering much needed supplies for homeless and poor families at St. Josephs Center.

As they reach middle and upper school, Wildwood students reap the benefits of a thoughtful, coordinated program of local, regional, and international service. For example, Wildwood’s International Community Involvement program engages upper school students in a variety of service–based learning programs abroad where the cultural exchange component of their work includes living with host families in Vietnam, Uruguay, Argentina, and Guatemala.

These experiences empower Wildwood students to be collaborative, passionate advocates for themselves and others, challenging them in ways that build a foundation for learning lessons beyond those we teach.

Please explore our Web site to learn about Wildwood's commitment to students and their futures. Better yet, call us to plan a visit. Our admission office can schedule prospective students and their families for a tour.
