Parents of kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders came to the middle and upper campus library for an insider’s glimpse into what’s ahead on their Wildwood journey. The morning featured our Senior Seminar Program as a model of progressive, student-centered, and college preparatory learning. Faculty described and reflected on the four seminars offered: Environmental Change and Policy; Philosophy, Ethics, and Law; Government and Politics; and Human Rights. The continuity of Wildwood’s educational programming and core values was apparent, as they shared examples of how students and teachers are consistently utilizing the familiar Systems Thinking approach and Socratic Seminar model. After the faculty presentation, a panel of ‘lifer’ seniors (students who have attended Wildwood from kindergarten) answered questions and shared how their analytical skills and self-reflection began in kindergarten and continues through their college selection process.
