Student Transportation FAQ

K-2nd Grade:

• M-T; Th-F: 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. 
• W: 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. 

3rd-5th Grade: 

• M-T; Th-F: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
• W: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Compliance with the CUP requires that all elementary school families follow the drop-off and pick-up procedures:

• Enter the parking lot entrances off of Mitchell Avenue.

• Do not block the sidewalk or impede traffic.

• Do not drop off students on Washington Place or Mitchell Avenue and allow them to walk on to campus alone.

• For students who walk or ride their bike to school, a staff member will escort the student onto campus.

• Many families carpool and it is encouraged. Carpools are parent-organized and maintained. To help plan carpools, the online school directory (with zip code filter) is made available before school begins. 

  • There are about 60+ zip codes represented and students come from a wide range of neighborhoods and areas. 

• Car line monitors will direct the flow of traffic.

6th-12th Grade:

• M-T; Th-F: 8:30 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. 
• W: 9:30 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.

In order for the middle and upper school campus to exist at its current site, the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) from the city of Los Angeles requires us to mitigate the impact our school has on neighborhood traffic that is caused by vehicles entering and leaving the school. It also restricts parking on local streets and neighboring properties as noted below.

For Drop-Off/Pick-Up, We Strongly Recommend Using One of the Options Listed Below to Help Meet Our CUP Requirements:
 

• CARPOOL
  Many families carpool and it is encouraged. Carpools are parent-organized and maintained. To help plan carpools, the online school directory (with zip code filter) is made available before school begins. Our students live in 60+ different zip code areas and students come from a wide range of neighborhoods and areas.
   
• BUS TRANSPORTATION (WILDWOOD-PROVIDED SERVICE)
  Wildwood School maintains a student bus transportation program that provides three routes to and from school: Hancock Park, Pacific Palisades/Santa Monica/Brentwood, and San Fernando Valley. Each route has a bus in the morning and two in the afternoon, which are dismissed at 3:45 p.m. and at 5:50 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Friday at 3:45 p.m. only. While we encourage families who are interested in traveling by bus to purchase a yearly bus contract, individual trip bus passes are available for students who have not contracted for the round trip. 
   
• WILDWOOD MORNING AND AFTERNOON SHUTTLE
  There is a free shuttle offered by Wildwood that travels from the elementary campus to the middle and upper campus in the morning, and from the middle and upper campus to the elementary campus in the afternoon.
   
• PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: METRO AND BUS ROUTES
  We encourage and support the use of public transportation. Santa Monica Big Blue Bus routes #5, R10, R12, #14, and #15 have nearby stops. Student discount fares are available. The Metro E Line (Expo) has a nearby stop on Olympic Boulevard and Bundy Drive (Expo/Bundy Station). 
   
• BIKE, SKATEBOARD, OR WALK
  An eco-friendly way to travel, students can bike, skateboard, or walk to campus. 
   
• STUDENT DRIVERS
  Upper school student drivers can drive and park in off-site parking. Permits can be purchased through the school for an additional fee.
