Multicultural Symposium 2025
With the theme of “Crossing Bridges,” this year’s Multicultural Symposium engaged our middle and upper school in discussions that reached across differences. Students attended nearly 30 workshop sessions led by students, faculty, staff, parents, and guest speakers that explored all aspects of personal identity, exploring perspectives that challenge, inspire, and unite us. From creating graphic novels and poetry to crafting zines, from Tai Chi to protest songs, sessions were creative, reflective, and deeply rooted in cultural expression. Keynote discussions from Ann Kono and Kyle Hjelmeseth from TeachAAPI examined the power of representation, the nuances of AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) identity, and the role of advocacy in building more inclusive communities. In a special session, Darius Jones, founder and president of the National Black Empowerment Council, and Dr. Noam Weissman, executive vice president and head of education at ConnectED, delved into the topics of racism, antisemitism, and the complex history of Black-Jewish relations in the United States.
