A Day at Wildwood Elementary School

Every school day is an opportunity to build community, nurture young learners, and incubate curiosity with rich learning experiences on a campus designed specifically for our youngest Wolves.  

Whether singing during a performing arts exhibition, leading All School Meeting, or organizing an endangered species awareness march around campus, children find their own unique voices, and no two days are ever the same.

9:00 a.m.

All School Meeting

Friday morning is a time for community building as students, faculty, staff, and families gather for All School Meeting, led each week by 5th graders.

9:15 a.m.

Morning Meeting

During Morning Meeting, classes share greetings and news, discuss current events, review lesson plans, and practice skills for academic success.

9:30 a.m.

Systems Thinking

A Systems Thinking lens is applied to all areas of the curriculum, guiding students to see and understand that our world is connected.

10:00 a.m.

Library

The Library is an exciting, hands-on creative spot, as well as a cozy space that welcomes students throughout the day.

Reader’s and Writer’s Workshops

After mini-lessons, students practice reading and writing skills with a variety of genres, from narratives to poetry.

10:30 a.m.

P.E.

Time to get moving! P.E. uses Life Skills to help children develop physical and social skills and a lifelong love for healthy activity.

Social-Emotional Learning

Lessons to develop self-management, awareness, social, and decision-making skills are weaved in the K-5th grade program.

Big Yard

Big Yard is a time for unstructured play and nurturing new interests.

Affinity Groups

Affinity groups provide a safe space for 3rd-5th grade students to examine salient issues and common experiences.

1:30 p.m.

Arts Specialists

Children build confidence  in art, music, performance, and  movement.

1:30 p.m.

Math Workshop

Focused time for direct instruction around specific lessons and small group and independent practice.

2:00 p.m.

Garden

Time to get your hands dirty. Every grade level partakes in learning about the garden and its systems and is involved in its care and well-being.

Science Specialists

In our inquiry-based model, students gather evidence, experiment, propose solutions, and collaborate.

3:30 p.m.

Afterschool & Athletics

School’s out, but the day isn’t over, with a full array of after-school and athletics activities offered each day.
