A Day at Wildwood Middle School

In the big city of Los Angeles, Wildwood’s middle school offers a home in the world where students develop the confidence to be intellectually and creatively fearless.

Middle school days are filled with opportunities to establish independence and engage in self-discovery. Throughout the day, challenging interdisciplinary studies and expanding arts, electives, and athletics offerings strengthen their understanding of themselves and their role in shaping the world around them.

8:30 A.M.

Advisory

Teachers serve as mentors to a small group of students, cultivating strong adult- and student-to-student relationships.

9:00 A.M.

Humanities

Students are challenged to think critically in an interdisciplinary class that illuminates social studies, history, and language arts.

9:30 A.M.

Math

Students move through foundational material that provides readiness for algebraic thinking to pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry.

10:30 A.M.

Science

Students engage in scientific thinking by asking questions, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions rooted in evidence.

11:30 A.M.

Languages

Students experience a trimester each of Spanish, Mandarin, and Coding before selecting one for further study.

Arts

Rotations through art, music, and theater allow students to build skills and experiment in each area.

Affinity groups and Contemporary Multicultural Issues (CMI) meetings emphasize an awareness of diverse perspectives.
