Advisory
Wildwood School is distinguished by its internationally recognized Advisory program, which begins in 5th grade and deepens in content and engagement throughout middle and upper school. Advisory offers a structured curriculum that integrates academic support, team building, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging programs, community involvement, and activities that incorporate higher-level thinking and communication skills.
Students develop supportive relationships with adults they trust, as well as with their peers. These strongly established connections are foundational to progressing from elementary through middle and upper as academic rigor increases and social networks evolve. The small advisory group setting, consisting of approximately 10-12 students, is a natural incubator where norms are established and students can try out new ideas and explore their own identities. In the process, they cultivate a sense of self—academically, emotionally, and socially.
Project Highlight
A Day at the Beach (With a Purpose)
Wildwood 7th graders truly embodied the Habits of Mind and Heart on a community-building beach clean-up trip. Turning information into action, students collected data along with trash, and used “Clean-up Data Cards” to help Heal the Bay.
I think it’s great to have a community of people that you can fall back on. Your advisory is a group of people that you can trust.
