Elementary School Process
Wildwood's elementary school program is designed to honor and challenge each student. We look forward to getting to know your child during our admission process—every step allows us to develop a deep understanding of an applicant and their family. We invite you to tour our campuses when school is in session to experience Wildwood firsthand.
Kindergarten is our largest entry point, with 60 available spaces per year. In 1st through 5th grade, openings occur by attrition and we typically have one to three openings per grade level per year.
Kindergarten through 5th grade applications are accepted July 2018 through Dec. 7, 2018. Applications received after December may be held for the following year. All applicants, including siblings, must submit an inquiry form as the first step in the admission process. Sibling families are not required to attend a campus tour.
To apply, please complete the following:
Once your submitted online inquiry is processed, it generates an email giving you a username and the ability to create a password for our Wildwood School Admission Portal, your personalized admission portal.
Click here to log into the Wildwood School Admission Portal and access the application, school forms, and to check the progress of your online application.
Once signed onto your Wildwood School Admission Portal, you may locate your child’s checklist by clicking on their name in the upper lefthand corner. The checklist can be found under the “Admission Progress” tab.
At least one parent/guardian must attend an elementary campus tour. This is an adult only tour. Tours are held on select Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. by appointment only. You may register for an elementary tour through the Wildwood School Admission Portal checklist under the “Attend Parent/Guardian Elementary Tour” checklist item.
If you are applying for kindergarten, we recommend touring the school in the early spring prior to the application deadline so that you have the widest choice of interview dates and times.
Although it is not a required part of our elementary admission process, we invite prospective elementary parents/guardians to also visit our middle and upper campus. To schedule a tour, please contact Tisa Habas.
The online application fee is $125 and is non-refundable. A fee waiver is available upon request. Please contact the admission office for more details. In order to be considered for our priority deadline, all kindergarten applications must be submitted by Nov. 2, 2018. The priority deadline allows for greater flexibility with interview scheduling. It does not affect admission decisions. All 1st through 5th grade applications should be submitted by Dec. 7, 2018.
Applications received after Dec. 7, 2018 will be placed on hold.
Once we have received your application, we will contact you to schedule an interview. Interviews (for kindergarten through 5th grade applicants) are held between September and January. Interviews are scheduled Monday through Friday during school hours and are on a first come, first served basis.
Once we receive your application, you will receive information about registering for a student visit day.
Kindergarten student visit days will take place on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 and Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019. These 90-minute sessions offer small groups of applicants the chance to participate in preschool like activities and include a screening for kindergarten readiness.
First graders will be scheduled to visit on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019. The 90-minute visit offers applicants the chance to participate in small-group activities and includes a screening for academic readiness.
Visits for 2nd through 5th grade applicants are scheduled during the school day. Students spend a full day with a class in their current grade and complete an academic skills screening with a learning specialist.
Step 7: Download and distribute forms to request transcripts and recommendations from your child's current school (in early December)
Kindergarten applicants: Please download and email the Kindergarten Applicant Recommendation Form to your current preschool. The preschool will return the form directly to Wildwood.
First through 5th grade applicants: Please download and email the following to your child's current school in December:
Transcript Release Form
Administrator Recommendation Form
1st Grade Teacher Recommendation Form (applicant for 1st grade only)
2nd-5th Grade Teacher Recommendation Form (applicants for 2nd-5th grade only)
The school will complete the forms and return them directly to Wildwood. Parents/guardians are responsible for making sure the forms are received by Wildwood by the due date of Jan. 18, 2019.
Please note: Our office will contact you in early February if any required forms are missing from an applicant's file.
Kindergarten through 5th grade applicants will be electronically notified through the online Wildwood School Admission Portal on March 15, 2019. Parents must reply by March 25, 2019. If we have placed your child on the waitlist, we will keep the waitlist active until the end of August, and will contact you if space opens up. Please do let us know if you wish to remain on the waitlist.
