Meet Robin Follet, Director of Upper School

For Director of Upper School Robin Follet, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching students grow into themselves—and nothing more exciting than helping them pull it all together.

"Upper school is where students begin to synthesize all they’ve learned and launch into the next phase of their lives," Robin says. "It’s not just about preparing them for college—it’s about preparing them for life."

Robin brings more than two decades of experience in independent schools to his role at Wildwood, most recently at Cary Academy in North Carolina. There, he served in a wide range of roles—from English teacher and department chair to dean of students and head of upper school—giving him a comprehensive view of what students, teachers, and families need to thrive.

His path through education—both as a student and an educator—has shaped a philosophy grounded in curiosity, reflection, and student empowerment.

I believe in giving students a voice and choice—helping them take ownership of their learning and realize they have a say in how they grow. That's what progressive education is really about. - ROBIN FOLLET

That path includes a BA in English Literature and Studio Art from the University of Virginia, as well as a master’s in education from the College of William and Mary. Drawn to Wildwood’s progressive philosophy, Robin is excited to be part of a school community where students are empowered to be active participants in their own learning.

"I believe in giving students a voice and choice—helping them take ownership of their learning and realize they have a say in how they grow," Robin says. "That’s what progressive education is really about."

Outside the classroom, Robin enjoys life in Santa Monica with his wife, Delia—also an educator. On weekends, you might find him running along the beach, sketching in a notebook, or exploring a new trail. A lifelong cartoonist, he also creates weekly illustrations inspired by his pets, which often find their way into school communications—adding a playful and personal touch to the community’s day-to-day life.

"I love adventure," he says, "and being part of Wildwood’s vibrant community continues to be one of the best."
