Meet Scott Johnson, Middle and Upper School Math and Science Teacher
From Philosophy to Advanced Physics, Calculus III to Cinema and Law, Scott Johnson brings a world of knowledge and experience to our classrooms.
Before joining the Wildwood community 12 years ago, Scott practiced law at a global firm, focusing on patent litigation, and even had a stint at a government agency during law school. However, his heart has always been in teaching, having previously shared his wisdom at various independent schools.
Strong academic skills and competency in a profession can have a real impact for other people and in the world. - SCOTT JOHNSON, MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL MATH AND SCIENCE TEACHER
At Wildwood, he draws on his legal expertise frequently, helping students understand the significance of academics in real-world applications.
“Strong academic skills and competency in a profession can have a real impact for other people and in the world,” Scott said. “Legal decisions matter in material ways regarding rights and resources, and the work you do can change the course of someone's life. It's the same with other professions, and developing the necessary skills starts here at Wildwood.”
Beyond the classroom, Scott’s interests are as diverse as his courses, and include cinema, philosophy, literature. Originally from St. Louis, he's made Los Angeles his home after pursuing degrees at the University of Missouri,-Rolla (BS in Physics), the University of California-San Diego (MS in Physics), and The George Washington University Law School (JD).
When he's not inspiring students and colleagues, you might find him running a soccer team or enjoying pickup games.
